o Report: U.S. IPO Market Grows 40% in Second Quarter

London -- U.S. companies raised $12 billion in 48 initial public offerings (IPOs) during the second quarter, up 40% from the previous quarter, according to a new report from Ernst & Young. Capital raised also was 65% more than the same period in 2012, excluding Facebook's IPO. In addition, another 14 IPOs expected to raise around $2.8 billion are on tap before the end of June. "The IPO window is reopening thanks to rising equity markets and a wave of recent mega-deals, which is having an ice-breaker impact on the market," said Maria Pinelli, Ernst & Young's global vice chair of strategic growth markets. "Combined with improved global monetary policy, market confidence is growing, particularly in the U.S., Japan, U.K. and parts of Latin America." Pinelli, however, said that average deal size in the U.S. is trending lower, in part because of the impact of the JOBS Act, which lets more emerging growth companies file confidentially to raise capital on the public markets. The complete report is available at the link below.
