o San Francisco-Based Clinkle Raises $25 Million in Inaugural Round

San Francisco -- Clinkle, a San Francisco-based startup developing a new payment platform, said on Thursday it has raised $25 million in its inaugural round of funding. Investors included Accel Partners, Andreessen Horowitz, Intel Capital and Intuit, as well as more than a dozen high-profile individuals. The stealthy company, founded in 2011 by Lucas Duplan, then a computer science student at Stanford University, remains in stealth mode, said it is building a payment platform "designed to bring commerce into the digital age in a novel way." It plans to release the platform in the coming year. "Technology has transformed so many industries in the past 20 years. Yet, the way we transact hasn't changed significantly," said Duplan. "We're excited by the magnitude of this opportunity."

o San Mateo-Based PokitDok Raises $4 Million in First Round

San Mateo, Calif. -- PokitDok, the San Mateo-based developer of an online marketplace designed to connect patients with healthcare providers, said on Thursday it has raised $4 million in its first round of funding, led by New Atlantic Ventures. Rogers Venture Partners and seed investors Subtraction Capital, Zac Zeitlin and FFP Holdings also participated. Founded in late 2011, PokitDok currently counts more than 1,000 practices utilizing its site, which lets patients research and shop for healthcare providers by specialty, condition or name, then pay for treatment using their health insurance, cash or health savings account (HSA). The company, said it will use the funding to expand its beta program and add engineering, business development and marketing staff.

o Santa Clara-Based RackWare Lands $3 Million ion First Round

Santa Clara, Calif. -- RackWare, a Santa Clara-based developer of cloud management software, said on Thursday it has landed $3 million in its first round of funding, co-led by Kickstart Seed Fund and Osage Venture Partners. The company said it will use the proceeds to expand its sales and marketing organizations. Gavin Christensen, managing director at Kickstart Seed Fund, and Nate Lentz, managing partner at Osage Venture Partners, will join the company's board of directors. Sash Sunkara, the CEO of RackWare, said his company's software is designed to lower expenses for customers seeking to "enable the cloud while also managing a hybrid infrastructure of physical, virtual, private and public cloud resources."

o Redwood City-Based Reputation.com Acquires PaperKarma Mobile App

Redwood City, Calif. -- Reputation.com, a Redwood City-based developer of online reputation management and digital privacy tools, said on Thursday it has acquired the PaperKarma mobile app, designed to eliminate unwanted paper mail. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. The app, available for Apple and Android devices, lets users snap a picture of unwanted mail, press "send" and get unsubscribed by PaperKarma. Reputation.com said the acquisition compliments its MyPrivacy product, which helps people remove personally identifiable information, such as names, addresses and incomes, from exposure on the web. PaperKarma was created by co-founders Sean Mortazavi and Brendan Ribera, who are based in Seattle.

Sand Hill Angels, a Sunnyvale-based group of Silicon Valley angel investors, said it has made an investment in Storefront, a marketplace for short-term retail space currently operating in San Francisco and New York. The investment was part of a $1.6 million seed round, which the company will use to build out its staff and expand into new markets. Storefront said it has helped more than 100 brands open pop-up stores in San Francisco overt the past six months.
