o Menlo Park-Based Greylock Partners Raises $1 Billion for New Fund

Menlo Park, Calif. -- Greylock Partners, the Menlo Park-based venture capital firm, said on Wednesday that it has raised $1 billion for its latest investment fund, which will continue to focus on early-stage technology companies. "Moving forward, most notably, we see a transition from a technology-in-your-face phase to one where tech melds into the background and stops becoming work," wrote partners David Sze and Reid Hoffman in a blog post. Founded in 1965, Greylock has invested in companies that include Constant Contact, LinkedIn, Pandora, Red Hat and Zipcar. The firm currently has $2 billion under management. In Greylock's previous fund, also $1 billion, 120 of its approximately 140 investments were seed or first-round deals.
