o San Francisco-Based Twitter Confidentially Files for IPO

San Francisco -- In what's certain to be one of the largest initial public offerings of all time, San Francisco-based social networking giant Twitter tweeted on Thursday that it has filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to go public. "We've confidentially submitted an S-1 to the SEC for a planned IPO," the company wrote, adding, "This Tweet does not constitute an offer of any securities for sale." The company has yet to disclose any details of the offering, which is certain to be the most hyped since Facebook went public in May 2012.
