Hermes Growth Partners led the round, which also included participation from previous backers Index Ventures, Khosla Ventures and Insight Venture Partners. The company now has raised $46 million since its inception. Obrand most recently served as the chief customer officer at Yammer, playing a key role in the company's rapid growth and eventual acquisition by Microsoft for $1.2 billion in 2012, and previously spent a decade at salesforce.com. Obrand will be leading several new executives, including new chief customer officer Mary Pecka; Georg Ell, the company's new vice president and general manager of EMEA; and Jonathan Grant, its new vice president of finance, accounting and investor relations.

San Francisco -- Appirio, a San Francisco-based provider of cloud services for businesses, said on Tuesday it has acquired Connecticut-based developer community TopCoder. Appirio created its own CloudSpokes community in 2011. "The rise of the sharing economy is quickly rendering the traditional systems integration and offshore biased model obsolete," said Chris Barbin, co-founder and CEO of Appirio. "Together, the CloudSpokes and TopCoder communities offer more elastic development and design resources than Accenture, Deloitte and InfoSys combined." Narinder Singh, the founder of Appirio, will serve as president of the combined company, with TopCoder founder Jack Hughes joining Appirio's crowdsourcing advisory board.
