o S.F.-Based Appirio Acquires Developer Community TopCoder

San Francisco -- Appirio, a San Francisco-based provider of cloud services for businesses, said on Tuesday it has acquired Connecticut-based developer community TopCoder. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Appirio created its own CloudSpokes community in 2011. "The rise of the sharing economy is quickly rendering the traditional systems integration and offshore biased model obsolete," said Chris Barbin, co-founder and CEO of Appirio. "Together, the CloudSpokes and TopCoder communities offer more elastic development and design resources than Accenture, Deloitte and InfoSys combined." Narinder Singh, the founder of Appirio, will serve as president of the combined company, with TopCoder founder Jack Hughes joining Appirio's crowdsourcing advisory board. David Messinger, the vice president of community at CloudSpokes, has been promoted to chief community officer of the combined communities.
