o Foster City-Based E2open Files to Raise $86.25 Million in IPO

Foster City, Calif. -- E2open, a Foster City-based developer of cloud-based software designed to help companies more efficiently collaborate with their trading partners, on Friday filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to raise up to $86.25 million in its initial public offering (IPO). The company has yet to reveal details of the offering, such as the number of shares to be sold or their expected price range. BofA Merrill Lynch is acting as lead underwriter. For the fiscal year ended last February, E2open reported revenue of $55.5 million and net income of $6.6 million. The company's E2open Business Network now includes more than 29,000 unique registered trading partners. Clients include Boeing, Cisco, Dell, the Gap, GE, Flextronics, IBM, Motorola and Vodafone.

o Broadcom Completes $3.7 Billion Acquisition of Santa Clara's NetLogic

Santa Clara, Calif. -- Broadcom, the Irvine-based developer of communications chips, said on Friday it has completed its $3.7 billion acquisition of Santa Clara-based NetLogic Microsystems, a maker of chips used in Internet networks. Under the deal, first announced in September, shareholders of NetLogic received $50 a share in cash. All of NetLogic's more than 700 employees have made the transition, and Ron Jankov, the company's former president and CEO of NetLogic, has become a senior vice president and general manager at Broadcom. "This acquisition adds a high-margin, high-growth business that strongly increases the addressable market of our infrastructure and networking business," said Broadcom CEO Scott McGregor.

o Sunnyvale-Based Silicon Image Opens R&D Center in India

Sunnyvale, Calif. -- Silicon Image, a Sunnyvale-based developer of wireless and wired HD connectivity technology, said on Friday it has opened a new research and development center in Hyderabad, India. The facility will focus on the design and development of semiconductor and IP core technologies used in mobile, wireless and consumer electronics products. The company also has R&D operations in Sunnyvale and Shanghai, China. The India office currently has 80 employees.

o Alan Shaw Resigns as President and CEO of Redwood City-Based Codexis

Redwood City, Calif. -- Codexis, a Redwood City-based developer of industrial enzymes used to produce biofuels, bio-based chemicals and pharmaceutical intermediates, said on Friday that Alan Shaw has resigned as its president and CEO to "pursue other interests." The company's board has named Peter Strumph, the company's former senior vice president and business head of pharmaceuticals, as its interim CEO while it searches for a permanent replacement. "We are grateful to Alan for his many years of service in leading Codexis from its inception and are pleased that he has agreed to serve as a special advisor to the board," said Thomas Baruch, the company's chairman. The news comes less than a month after Robert Lawson also resigned as the company's CFO.

o San Jose, San Fran. Rank Among Nation's Leaders in Social Media Jobs

San Jose, Calif. -- San Jose and San Francisco rank near the top of the list of U.S. cities with the highest volume of social media jobs, according to Onward Search. San Jose came in second and San Francisco third on the list, which ranked cities based on the number of social media-related jobs posted on SimplyHired. New York topped the list, with Los Angeles and Boston rounding out the top five. The most advertised jobs included blogger/social media content writer (30%), social media marketing manager (27%) and social media strategist (16%). The firms announced the program Thursday during a reception at the Consulate General of Luxembourg in San Francisco.

(Mountain View, Calif.) Mountain View-based Alexza Pharmaceuticals, a developer of drugs to treat central nervous system conditions, on Friday priced a $22 million public offering. The company is selling 44 million shares for $0.50 each, and plans to use the proceeds for general corporate purposes, including regulatory, clinical trial, research and development, general and administrative and manufacturing expenses. The offering is expected to close next Thursday.
