The deal is expected to close by the end of April, when Lightwire's employees will be integrated into Cisco's Transceiver Modules Group Business Unit and Supply Chain Operations Group. Cisco said the acquisition will give it access to low-power CMOS photonics technology, helping it deliver high-speed networks with the next generation of optical connectivity. Investors included Mitsui Global Investment (MGI), Total Energy Ventures, 3M, TEL Venture Capital, Commercial Energy of California, Oceanshore Ventures and US Invest. Molinari, a New York Republican who served in the House of Representatives from 1990-1997, will serve as vice president of public policy and government relations for the Americas. She succeeds Alan Davidson, who left the company in November. He succeeds Ronald Verdoorn, the company's chairman, who has served as interim CEO since Jan. 1. Titinger most recently served as the CEO of Verigy, and previously was the senior vice president of FormFactor's Product Business Groups.
