o S.F.-Based Doximity Raises $54 Million in Third Round

San Francisco -- Doximity, the San Francisco-based developer of a professional network for doctors, said on Tuesday it has raised $54 million in its third round of funding, co-led by DFJ and T. Rowe Price Associates. Morgan Stanley Investment Management also participated in the round, which increases the company's total backing to $81 million since its launch in 2011. Doximity currently counts more than one in three U.S. doctors as members, with the company more than tripling its user base since closing its last round of funding in late 2012. "Healthcare is not a niche, it's a sector, and as a sector it's incredibly large," said Henry Ellenbogen, portfolio manager at T. Rowe Price. "It's exciting to see Doximity bringing the best of social media to this significant market."
