PIR said its .ORG domain is currently used by non-profit and non-governmental organizations in more than 9.9 million web addresses. If accepted, the new domains could go into effect as early as next year. "The ‘NGO’ term holds great weight globally and sets these organizations apart from commercial or governmental entities," said Brian Cute, the CEO of PIR.
