o Apple Announces Sept. 12 Launch Event, Most Likely for iPhone 5

Cupertino, Calif. -- Apple on Tuesday emailed invitations to the media for an event scheduled for Sept. 12, at which the company will presumably launch its new iPhone 5. The announcement features the words, "It's almost here," atop a vertical "12" casting a shadow of a "5." The new model is expected to include several new features, including a larger screen and the ability to connect to faster 4G networks. Many had expected Cupertino-based Apple to unveil the iPhone 5 a year ago, but the company instead released its iPhone 4S, an updated version of its previous model. One of its most popular features has been a voice-activated assistant, known as Siri. An image of the invitation, courtesy of Entertainment Weekly, is available at the link below.

o Campbell-Based Move Inc. Acquires TigerLead Solutions

Campbell, Calif. -- Move Inc., a Campbell-based provider of real estate search services, said on Tuesday it has paid $22 million in cash to acquire Los Angeles-based TigerLead Solutions, developer of a lead generation and lead management system for real estate professionals. Move said the deal will allow it to offer end-to-end services designed to help real estate professionals connect with consumers and grow their businesses. "Bringing TigerLead under the Move umbrella extends our value to our customers in a tangible way that will deliver more high quality leads and help facilitate more real estate transactions," said CEO Steve Berkowitz. The current TigerLead team is expected to remain intact, with co-founders Howard Tager, Art Sawyer and Adam Ingersoll continuing to run the business.

o Equinix to Sell 16 data Centers to Group Led by 365 Main

Redwood City -- Equinix, a Redwood City-based owner and operator of data centers, said on Tuesday it will sell 16 of its U.S. data centers, including one in San Jose, to a group consisting of 365 Main, Crosslink Capital and Housatonic Partners in a deal valued at approximately $75 million. The deal is expected to close by the end of the year. San Francisco-based 365 Main will own and manage the facilities, which include approximately 280,000 total gross square feet of data center space. Equinix estimated that the 16 data centers generate less than 2% of its annual revenue. "As we sharpen our focus on developing business ecosystems, we are prioritizing the largest global markets required by our targeted customers and applications," said Charles Meyers, president of the Americas for Equinix. "We believe the divestiture of these assets will allow us to focus our capital and energy on our most productive data centers."
