One company, to retain the Agilent name, will focus on the life sciences, diagnostics and applied markets. The other, still unnamed company will be made up of Agilent's current portfolio of electronic measurement products. "Agilent has evolved into two distinct investment and business opportunities, and we are creating two separate and strategically focused enterprises to allow each to maximize its growth and success," said Bill Sullivan, Agilent's president and CEO. The separation is expected to be completed by the end of 2014. Previous backers Accel Partners, New Enterprise Associates (NEA) and Norwest Venture Partners also took part in the round, which will help the company expand both in the U.S. and overseas, as well as bolster product development activities.
