o Santa Clara-Based Violin Memory to Sell PCIe Flash Memory Card Business

Santa Clara, Calif. -- Violin Memory, a Santa Clara-based developer of all-flash storage arrays and appliances, said it will sell its PCIe flash memory card business to South Korea's SK hynix for $23 million in cash and another $500,000 in assumed liabilities. The deal is expected to close by the end of June. The news comes three months after the company said it would seek strategic alternatives for the business as part of a larger restructuring that included a 20% reduction in workforce. The sale includes the company's Velocity PCIe card family. SK hynix said it will offer jobs to members of the PCIe development team.

Santa Clara, Calif. -- After leading the company for a decade, Robert Thomas said he will step down as the president and CEO of Santa Clara-based Infoblox, a developer of network control technology. Thomas, who assumed the company's helm in 2004, will remain in his roles until a successor is named. The company's board has hired an executive search firm to assist in the process of evaluating candidates. "While we would be pleased if he would continue as CEO, the board respects his desire to pursue other personal and professional goals," said Michael Goguen, the chairman of Infoblox. "With Robert's encouragement, we have decided that it makes sense to immediately start the search for a successor."
