Prior investors Battery Ventures and Sutter Hill Ventures also took part in the round, which raises the company's total funding to $160 million. Glassdoor said it will use the proceeds for international expansion. It currently has more than 27 million registered members worldwide, and recently launched its first non-English website and mobile apps in France. The company, which is located about six miles north of San Francisco, currently has approximately 350 employees, and is continuing to hire. Its site features free and anonymous user-generated, company-specific reviews, ratings and salary content that currently spans more than 340,000 companies. Wellington Management, RA Capital, Deerfield Management, Sabby Capital, Perceptive Life Sciences and one other undisclosed public investment fund took part in the round, which the company will use to advance its lead drug candidate, GBT440, for the treatment of sickle cell disease. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Everbridge said that its focus on emergency notification combined with Nixle's approach to community engagement, "will redefine the way that organizations communicate and collaborate with local residents, schools and businesses." Nixle offers information from public safety agencies to local communities. No formal proposal has yet been made, according to people familiar with the matter. Discussions regarding a possible joint venture also have taken place. AOL has transformed itself in recent years from a dial-up Internet company to a provider of web content and advertising technology. Both companies have declined to comment on a potential deal.
