Mountain View, Calif. -- NetBase, the Mountain View-based developer of a social media analytics platform, said on Friday it has raised $24 million in its fifth round of funding, led by new investor Spring Lake Equity Partners. Previous backers Thomvest Ventures, Altos Ventures and WestSummit Capital also took part in the round, which comes just eight months after the company closed its previous round. NetBase's platform is designed to process billions of social media posts daily to give clients insights on areas such as marketing, sales and public relations. Clients include AMC Networks, American Airlines, Arby's, Coca-Cola, Kenneth Cole, Ogilvy, SAP, Taco Bell, Walmart and YUM! Brands. The company said it will use the newest funding to accelerate its market position within the core listening and analytics space, as well as bolster product development activities and expand globally.

San Jose, Calif. -- Cypress Semiconductor, a San Jose-based developer of semiconductors for a range of embedded systems, said it has completed its merger with Sunnyvale-based Spansion, a developer of Flash memory, microcontrollers, mixed-signal and analog products. The all-stock deal, valued at approximately $5 billion, was first announced in early December. T.J. o San Francisco-Based Webgility Raises $2.5 Million in New Funding

San Francisco -- Webgility, a developer of e-commerce accounting integration software for small- and medium-sized businesses, said it has landed $2.5 million in a new round of funding from SaaS Capital. The company plans to use the proceeds to increase headcount, ramp up product development and expand into new vertical markets. "This is our first institutional investment and although we received several outside funding offers, we knew SaaS Capital was the best fit for us at this stage," said founder and CEO Parag Mamnani. Webgility, which has bootstrapped since launching in 2007, is focused on helping online sellers to automate their accounting. The company's products are designed to integrate financial data from any cloud application with accounting software. Webgility currently integrates with more than 40 e-commerce platforms.

o San Francisco-Based OpenDNS Acquires BGPmon

San Francisco -- OpenDNS, a San Francisco-based provider of cloud-delivered security services, said it has acquired Vancouver-based BGPmon, a provider of network and routing monitoring services based on the Border Gateway Protocol (BGP). Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. OpenDNS said the acquisition will expand its security research capabilities and allow the company to offer customers broader protection against cybersecurity threats. "Network attacks are becoming more sophisticated everyday and companies need to prepare for the fact that unexpected parts of their internet infrastructure will be targeted," said David Ulevitch, the founder and CEO of OpenDNS. o Report: Fear of Successful Cyberattacks at All-Time High

Annapolis, Md. -- For the first time, a majority of IT security decision makers now believe their networks will successfully be attacked in the coming year, according to a new report by CyberEdge Group. All told, 52% of the 800 respondents surveyed believe a successful cyberattack is in the cards in 2015, up from 39% a year ago. And more than 70% of respondents said their networks were breached in 2014, up 8% from the previous year, with 22% of them victimized six or more times. "Cyberthreats hit an all time high in 2014, in terms of not only the number of breaches but their impact on all aspects of business," said Steve Piper, the CEO of CyberEdge Group. "For the first time in our research, a majority of participants predict their networks will become compromised in 2015." Among 10 designated categories of cyberthreats, phishing/spear-phishing, malware and zero-day attacks are perceived as posing the greatest risk, with denial of service attacks, watering hole attacks and drive-by downloads of the least concern.
