o San Ramon-Based Accela Acquires PublicStuff

San Ramon, Calif. -- Accela, a San Ramon-based developer of cloud-based civic engagement tools for government, said on Monday it has acquired New York-based PublicStuff, which offers local governments white-labeled citizen engagement apps and websites designed to let them extend access to city services. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Accela said the acquisition marks the latest expansion of its Civic Platform, designed to help government agencies simplify their business processes, streamline interactions, hasten workflows and improve transparency. More than 150 subscribing municipalities use PublicStuff's back-end CRM to interact with residents who have downloaded their city's free mobile app to enter service requests. The requests are automatically routed to the appropriate department and transparently tracked. "It should be just as easy to use your phone to interact with government as it is to order food for delivery or summon a cab," said Surya Yalamanchili, the CEO of PublicStuff.
