San Francisco -- Uber Technologies, the San Francisco-based operator of an on-demand car service, is seeking to raise as much as $2.1 billion at a valuation of $62.5 billion, Bloomberg reported. People familiar with the matter told the news service that Uber has filed paperwork outlining its fundraising plans in Delaware, and already has landed investments from Tiger Global Management and T. Rowe Price as part of the new round. The company is looking to expand its car service globally, especially in China, and has tested complimentary services, such as food and package delivery, Bloomberg reported.

o Redwood City-Based Shopkick Names Interim CEO and COO

Redwood City, Calif. -- Shopkick, the Redwood City-based developer of a shopping companion app that helps in-store shoppers find deals and earn rewards, said on Friday that co-founder Cyriac Roeding will step down from his role as CEO. The company has named board member Mike Lunsford as interim CEO, while it searches for a permanent successor. Roeding will remain a strategic advisor and board member. In addition, Alexis Rask, the company's chief revenue officer, will take over as interim COO. "Following our most successful holiday shopping season to date and the rapid growth of the last year, this is the ideal moment in shopkick's extraordinary journey to transition the leadership of the company," said Roeding. "For me, it is time to explore what the future entrepreneurial frontiers can be, expand my time working with startups, on angel investing and in board roles, as well as spend time with my two little sons and my wife."

o Global Semiconductor Sales Increase in October

Washington, DC -- Worldwide sales of semiconductors reached $29.0 billion in October, up 1.9% from the previous month but still 2.5% lower than the same period in 2014, according to a new report from the Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA). "Global semiconductor sales have shown signs of stabilizing in recent months, with October marking the third straight month of month-to-month growth," said John Neuffer, president and CEO of the SIA. "Year-to-date sales are narrowly ahead of where they were through the same time last year, and slight growth is projected for next year and beyond." The SIA also endorsed a new semiconductor sales forecast from the World Semiconductor Trade Statistics (WSTS) organization. The forecast projects a 0.2% sales increase this year, with growth of 1.4% next year and 3.1% in 2017.

Oakland -- A month after completing its $450 million acquisition of Ticketfly, Oakland-based Internet radio service Pandora said on Friday it plans to raise $300 million through a convertible notes offering. The deal is expected to close on Dec. 9, with the company using the bulk of the proceeds for "general corporate purposes." The notes are due in 2020.
