o Santa Clara-Based Intel Launches Cash Tender Offer for Mobileye

Santa Clara, Calif. -- Nearly a month after announcing plans for its $15.3 billion acquisition of Israel's Mobileye, Santa Clara-based chipmaker Intel said it has launched its cash tender offer for the company. The company is paying $63.54 a share for Mobileye, a developer of computer vision technology for self-driving cars. The tender offer is scheduled to expire on June 21, unless extended or earlier terminated. Intel said last month that the acquisition will bolster its position in the fast-growing market for autonomous vehicle systems, data and services, expected to grow to $70 billion by 2030. Intel already has a foothold in the market with technologies for plotting a car's path and making real-time driving decisions. The combined autonomous driving organization, consisting of Mobileye and Intel's Automated Driving Group, will be headquartered in Israel and led by Amnon Shashua, Mobileye's co-founder, chairman and chief technology officer (CTO). The deal is expected to close by the end of this year.
