o San Francisco-Based InfluxData Lands $35 Million in Third Round 

San Francisco – InfluxData, the San Francisco-based creator of an open source platform designed to help developers build monitoring, analytics and IoT applications, said on Tuesday it has landed $35 million in its third round of funding, led by Sapphire Ventures. New investor Harmony Partners and previous backers Battery Ventures, Mayfield Fund and Trinity Ventures also participated in the round, which the company will use to expand its sales, marketing and research and development efforts. Anders Ranum, a partner at Sapphire Ventures, will join the company's board of directors. InfluxData's platform is used to analyze metrics and events for DevOps and IoT applications. The information allows developers to build new monitoring, analytics and IoT applications. o Palo Alto-Based HackerRank Secures $30 Million in Third Round of Funding

Palo Alto, Calif. – HackerRank, the Palo Alto-based creator of a platform designed to help companies evaluate technical talent based on skills, said on Tuesday it has raised $30 million in its third round of funding, led by JMI Equity. Previous backers Khosla Ventures, Battery Ventures, Randstad Innovation Fund and Chartline Capital Partners also participated in the round, which increased the company's total funding to $58.2 million. Suken Vakil, a general partner at JMI Equity, has joined the company's board of directors. HackerRank said it will use the proceeds to accelerate its growth in the enterprise, expand and support its community of more than 3.4 million developers and bolster its data science research and development. "The need for developers is only going to increase as every company becomes a software company," said co-founder and CEO Vivek Ravisankar. "HackerRank is playing an important role in reshaping the future of technical hiring -- one where developers can showcase their skills and employers can evaluate them in an unbiased way." Customers include BlackRock, Atlassian, VMware, Capital One and Looker.

San Mateo, Calif. – Tipalti, the San Mateo-based developer of a cloud platform designed to streamline all phases of the payments workflow, said on Tuesday it has raised $30 million in its third round of funding, led by Zeev Ventures. The fintech company, which now has raised more than $50 million since its inception, said it will use the latest proceeds to bolster product development and customer service activities. "By modernizing the finance operation, we typically automate 80% of an organization's AP and cross-border payments workload, freeing the finance team to focus on mission-critical initiatives," said co-founder and CEO Chen Amit. o San Francisco-Based Fitbit to Acquire Twine Health 

San Francisco – Fitbit, the San Francisco-based developer of wearable fitness trackers, said on Tuesday it will acquire Massachusetts-based Twine Health, developer of a health coaching platform. Financial terms of the deal, expected to close by the end of March, were not disclosed. The acquisition extends Fitbit's reach into healthcare, laying the foundation for the company to expand its offerings to health plans, health systems and self-insured employers, while creating opportunities to increase subscription-based revenue. "Twine Health has delivered powerful results for patients managing conditions like diabetes and hypertension – two key focus areas for Fitbit," said co-founder and CEO James Park. "When combined with our decade-plus of experience empowering millions of consumers to take control of their health and wellness, we believe we can help build stronger connections between people and their care teams by removing some of the most difficult barriers to behavior change." Twine Health's HIPAA-compliant connected health platform is designed to help users manage chronic conditions, such as diabetes and hypertension, and aid in lifestyle interventions, such as weight loss and smoking cessation, by making it easy for care teams to collaborate on care plans.

Campbell, Calif. – Tachyum, a Campbell-based developer of intelligent information processing products, said on Tuesday it has landed a new investment from IPM Growth, the venture capital division of  InfraPartners Management. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Adrian Vycital, managing partner at IPM, has joined the company's board of directors. Tachyum, which emerged from stealth last year, is creating a family of "cloud chips" designed to save power while boosting performance to help data centers overcome increasing energy demands.
