Petaluma, Calif. -- Shares of Petaluma-based Enphase Energy rose more than 22% on Friday, hours after the developer of microinverter technology for the solar industry raised $53.8 million in its initial public offering. The company priced nearly 9 million shares at $6 each. Shares are now trading on the Nasdaq Global Market under the symbol "ENPH." Enphase's semiconductor-based microinverter system converts energy at the individual solar module level, boosting the performance and reliability of solar energy systems.

o Mountain View-Based Violin Memory Raises $50 Million


Mountain View, Calif. -- Violin Memory, a Mountain View-based developer of flash memory arrays, said on Friday it has raised $50 million in its fourth round of funding, which valued the company at $800 million. New investors SAP Ventures and Highland Capital Partners joined previous backers Toshiba and Juniper Networks in the round. The company now has raised $155 million since its inception in 2005, including a $40 million round that closed last June. Violin's flash memory arrays are used in corporate data centers to accelerate business applications and virtualize IT infrastructures.

o Hercules Technology Growth Capital Names Jessica Baron as CFO

Palo Alto, Calif. -- Hercules Technology Growth Capital, a Palo Alto-based provider of debt financing to technology companies, has named Jessica Baron as its new CFO. The company said it chose Baron, who has held the role on an interim basis since last June, following an extensive search that included both internal and external candidates. Baron joined the company in 2006 as corporate controller and was promoted to vice president of finance in 2010. Hercules Technology Growth Capital has committed more than $2.7 billion to over 190 companies since its inception.

o LivingSocial Co-Founder Eddie Frederick Steps Down as President

Washington, DC -- Eddie Frederick, who in 2007 founded daily deals company LivingSocial with Tim O'Shaughnessy and two other coworkers from Revolution Health, has stepped down as president to pursue other opportunities, O'Shaughnessy wrote Friday in an email to employees. "Today I'm writing with a little sadness and a lot of gratitude to let you know that Eddie Frederick will be stepping down from his current position on our leadership team and our board and moving on to new challenges and adventures (and if you know Eddie, you have no doubt that there will be plenty of new `adventures')," wrote O'Shaughnessy, the company's CEO. "As friends and colleagues, we wish him the best." Frederick previously designed and built product prototypes and platform infrastructure at Revolution Health.
