o Split Decision in Oracle-Google Infringement Case

San Francisco, Calif. -- In a closely watched case involving two Bay Area titans, a federal jury has ruled that Google's Android operating system did infringe on a limited part of Oracle's Java language, but the jury was unable to decide whether the infringed code was covered under "fair use." The split decision by the federal district jury will extend the case, with both sides claiming the decision will eventual be decided in their favor. Oracle had alleged that Google infringed on its intellectual property with the development of the popular mobile Android operating system.
