Other previous backers Qualcomm and the Oklahoma Life Sciences Fund also participated in the round, which the company will use to launch and commercialize its mobile ECG device, pending clearance by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). "This funding provides us with the resources to support the global launch of our highly anticipated iOS and Android ECG devices, and to utilize our transformative technology and data to strategically build future devices and services," said Judy Wade, the company's president and CEO. Financial terms of the all-cash deal, originally announced a month ago, were not disclosed. IPWireless has been renamed General Dynamics Broadband, and will operate as a unit of General Dynamics C4 Systems. According to comScore, Patch served a record 11.7 million users in May -- a 14% increase over April and 11% increase over its previous traffic record, which had been 10.6 million users in Aug. 2011. The monthly revenue of the business also finished 14% higher than its previous record in Nov. 2011. "We are extremely gratified to see these measures of the traction we have gained in our communities and in our business since our launch just over 3 years ago," said Jon Brod, the co-founder and CEO of Patch. The number of IT jobs grew by 15,500 during the month, or .4 percent sequentially, to 4.18 million, marking the fifth straight month that IT employment reached record levels. All told, IT jobs have increased by more than 110,000 in the past 12 months.
