o Menlo Park-Based Delphix Raises $25 Million in Third Round

Menlo Park, Calif. -- Delphix, a Menlo Park-based developer of agile data software, said on Wednesday it has raised $25 million in its third round of funding, led by Jafco Ventures. New investors Summit Partners and Battery Ventures and previous backers Greylock Partners and Lightspeed Venture Partners also participated in the round, which increased the company's total funding to $45.5 million. Delphix, which emerged from stealth mode in 2010, makes software designed to virtualize the data within enterprise databases, reducing database storage costs while increasing application team productivity and returns on database investments, as well as hastening time to market.

o San Francisco-Based Lending Club Lands $15M Investment from KPCB


San Francisco -- Lending Club, the San Francisco-based developer of an online platform for investing in and obtaining personal loans, said on Wednesday it has landed a $15 million investment from Menlo Park-based Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers (KPCB). The company also received a $2.5 million investment from John Mack, who recently joined Lending Club's board and currently serves as chairman emeritus of Morgan Stanley. Lending Club now has raised $100 million since its inception, bringing its total in unrestricted cash to more than $45 million. Mary Meeker, a general partner at KPCB, will join the company's board of directors.

o LinkedIn Confirms Reports of Hacked Passwords

Mountain View, Calif. -- LinkedIn, the Mountain View-based online business network, late Wednesday confirmed earlier reports that some of its member passwords had been stolen. "We can confirm that some of the passwords that were compromised correspond to LinkedIn accounts," the company wrote in a blog post. The company said that members with accounts associated with the compromised passwords will need to reset their passwords, which have now been invalidated. A user in a Russian forum early Wednesday claimed to have hacked and uploaded about 6.5 million LinkedIn passwords onto the web.

o San Francisco-Based Threadflip Lands $6.5 Million in First Round

San Francisco -- Threadflip, the San Francisco-based developer of a social marketplace for discovering, buying and selling fashion, said it has raised $6.5 million in its first round of funding, led by Shasta Ventures. Lowercase Capital and previous backers First Round Capital and Baseline Ventures also participated in the round, which increases the company's total funding to $8.1 million. Threadflip, which also announced the launch of its iOS mobile app, said it will use the proceeds to roll out a slew of new, enhanced services over the coming months. Tod Francis of Shasta Ventures will join the company's board of directors.
