Lockhart, who has held the position for 15 months, reportedly decided to leave the social networking giant to spend more time at home on the East Coast. He had been making frequent cross-country trips to Facebook's Menlo Park headquarters during his tenure. He will likely remain a consultant to the company. "Joe ultimately came to the decision that he didn't want to leave the East Coast, and obviously we understand that decision," a Facebook official told Politico. Lockhart served as White House press secretary from 1998-2000, and then co-founded communications consulting firm Glover Park Group. California leads the nation with apps accounting for $8,241 for every $1 million in economic impact, and ranks second (behind Washington) with 2.71% of its overall jobs related to apps. Though the Apple iTunes and Android Market app stores only have been open since 2008, there are now more than 2.4 million apps available.
