Founded in 2009 by former Veritas and Yahoo executives, Pure Storage offers flash storage arrays for data centers. The company raised $20 million in 2010 in its second round of venture capital, following a $5 million first round led by Sutter Hill Ventures. Other investors in the company include Greylock Partners, Index Ventures, Redpoint Ventures, and Samsung Ventures. http://www.purestorage.com _____________________________________________ o Facebook Launches Test of "Want" Button Menlo Park, Calif. -- In an attempt to further monetize its user base, Facebook has launched the test of a new "Want" button that will allow partnering retailers to sell their products to the social network's users. The company said it is conducting "a small test in which a few select businesses will be able to share information about their products through a feature called 'Collections,'" according to a report by PCMag. With the new application, Facebook users will be able to identify themselves as "wanting" a participating retailer's products, which will be visible to users' friends on their Facebook Timelines. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. ViDM is focused on providing digital advertising, data and content optimization technologies. The company helps publishers and advertisers gain control of their audience data and advertising inventory, and provides access to advertising technology products under the Alphabird Australia brand.
