The company paid $33.75 a share in a deal valued at $2.5 billion, launching its tender offer in June. Salesforce said adding ExactTarget's digital marketing capabilities will allow it to create a marketing platform across email, social, mobile and the web. "The CMO is expected to spend more on technology than the CIO by 2017," said Marc Benioff, the chairman and CEO of Salesforce.com. "The addition of ExactTarget makes Salesforce the starting place for every company and puts salesforce.com in the pole position to capture this opportunity." The company named Chuck Wieland as its vice president of sales and general manager of the Americas and John Reister as its vice president of marketing and product management. The news comes on the heels of funding earlier this year that raised the company's total backing to $22 million through two rounds. The results were based on a survey of 811 technology business leaders. Google CEO Larry Page and Tesla Motors CEO Elon Musk tied for third. The organization said the IT jobs grow 0.5% sequentially last month to 4.47 million. Over the past year, the figure has grown 5.7%, with approximately 241,700 jobs added. Dashboard founder and former 500 Startups partner Paul Singh reportedly is leading an effort to transform the space into a more corporate setting. Among other changes, founders now will be "legally responsible" to work at their companies full time, and must be in the office at least four days a week. Singh also is looking for the incubator to draw startups from throughout the nation.
