"This acquisition is part of our efforts to invest further in our ad tech platforms -- Apt, Genome and Right Media -- and make buying easier for advertisers and agencies," wrote Scott Burke, Yahoo's senior vice president of display advertising and advertising technology "Admovate's personalization technology accelerates our capabilities in mobile advertising, and we gain an exceptionally talented technical team." The Mountain View-based company will lease 54,000 square feet at Republic Square I, located near Union Station. The company currently leases a little more than half that space at its current Washington location. "We are extremely pleased to have Google join our other high-powered tenants," said Steve Grigg, the president and CEO of Republic Properties, in a statement. The news comes as Google continues to spend more on lobbying than any other technology company. The decision to cut the "Adventures" business will impact 30 full-time employees, the company said. "While we have found great success in our bigger events -- BeerFest, Sumo & Sushi and 5k Dance Party -- that are designed to tour from city to city, we did not find a similar model for our local productions," spokeswoman Sara Parker told the Journal.
