Founded in 2010, UniversityNow operates Patten University and New Charter University, online universities targeting working adults. o AOL, Microsoft and Yahoo to Automate Process of Premium Ad Buying

Sunnyvale, Calif. -- Hoping to steer more advertising dollars online, partners AOL, Microsoft and Sunnyvale-based Yahoo on Tuesday announced plans to automate the sale of premium digital ads. The three companies, who have partnered together to sell display ads for the past two years, said they will adopt a common set of API specifications over the next few months, aimed at removing friction from the ad-buying process. Until now, more than half of the companies' ads have been sold through manual processes. "This is digital's next salvo in the efficiency war, bringing more premium inventory online," said Seth Demsey, the senior vice president of global advertising products and strategy at AOL Networks. "We see this approach as being both 'advertiser friendly' and 'publisher friendly' -- something that will address the challenges and inefficiencies that make it hard to scale big brand buys on the Internet," said Rik van der Kooi, the corporate vice president of Microsoft Advertising.
