o San Francisco-Based Twitter to Price IPO Late Wednesday

San Francisco -- In one of the most highly anticipated initial public offerings in recent years, San Francisco-based Twitter was expected to price its IPO late Wednesday, then begin trading on the New York Stock Exchange Thursday morning. The Wall Street Journal reported that the social networking giant -- which has more than 230 million monthly active users -- likely will price approximately 70 million shares at $25-$28 each, with underwriters aiming for $27. That's a significant increase from the company's initial price range of $17-$20, which it raised to $23-$25 earlier this week. A price of $25 would value Twitter at $13.6 billion. Shares will trade under the symbol "TWTR."

o Betable Raises $18.5 Million for Real-Money Gaming Platform

San Francisco -- Betable, the U.K.-based creator of a platform designed to let developers legally offer real-money play in their games, said it has raised $18.5 million in its first round of funding, led by Venture51. The company, which has U.S. headquarters in San Francisco, also received investments from previous backers Greylock and Founders Fund. "Betable is the only way for game developers to legally offer real-money play without spending millions of dollars on licenses or relinquishing control of their own games," said founder and CEO Christopher Griffin. "This funding enables us to grow our team, introduce new features and support developers who are building on our platform." The company's platform is licensed by the U.K. Gambling Commission.

(Washington, DC) Hoping to take a page from popular services like ZipCar, the General Services Administration (GSA) said it will launch a pilot car-sharing program in four cities, aimed at helping federal agencies reduce costs. The program, launching in Washington, DC; Boston; New York City and Chicago in the coming months, will let multiple agencies "sign out" cars for short periods of time, theoretically reducing the need to constantly purchase new vehicles. The GSA, which currently manages more than 200,000 vehicles, said it also is seeking ideas from commercial companies that could help it incorporate the practice government-wide.
