o San Francisco-Based Secret Reportedly Raises $10 Million

San Francisco -- Secret, the San Francisco-based developer of a mobile app that lets users post messages and photos on the pages of social media contacts without attribution, has raised $10 million at a $50 million valuation, TechCrunch reported. The Wall Street Journal has pegged the valuation at $40 million. Google Ventures reportedly led the round, which also included participation from Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers. "We built Secret for people to be themselves and share anything they're thinking and feeling with their friends without judgment," the company wrote on its website. "We did this by eliminating profile photos and names and by putting the emphasis entirely on the words and images being shared. This way, people are free to express themselves without holding back."

o Report: Bay Area Ranks Third in Nation in Cybersecurity Job Postings

San Francisco -- The San Francisco/San Jose area ranked third in the nation in cybersecurity job postings last year, according to a new report by labor-market analytics firm Burning Glass Technologies. The area produced 12,697 postings, trailing only Washington, DC (23,457) and New York (15,632). Overall, the report found that cybersecurity job postings have grown 74% since 2007, significantly outpacing the growth of IT jobs, In 2013, the nearly 210,000 national postings for cybersecurity jobs accounted for 10% of all IT job postings, with an average advertised salary of $93,000, $15,000 higher than IT roles. "The demand for cybersecurity talent appears to be outstripping supply," said Matt Sigelman, the CEO of Burning Glass. "In 2013, U.S. employers posted 50,000 jobs requesting a Certified Information Systems Security Professional, recruiting from a pool of only 60,000 CISSP holders."
