Mountain View, Calif. -- Jasper Wireless, a Mountain View-based developer of cloud-based platforms for the Internet of Things, said on Wednesday it has raised $50 million in funding at a valuation of $1.3 billion. Temasek led the round, which also included participation from Benchmark. The company plans to use the funds to accelerate the development of its platform, which is currently used by more than 1,000 companies to manage connected products and devices. Clients include Alarm.com, Air Liquide, Audi, Boston Scientific, Coca-Cola, Ford, Garmin, General Electric, General Motors, Honeywell, Nissan and Securitas. "We are seeing explosive growth in the number of Internet-connected devices, with many more billions anticipated by the end of the decade," said Jahangir Mohammed, the company's founder and CEO. "We make it easy to successfully deploy IoT service businesses."

Menlo Park, Calif. -- ForSight Vision5, a Menlo Park-based developer of non-invasive products that replace eye drops and provide sustained therapy for eye diseases, said on Wednesday it has raised $15 million in its third round of funding, led by H.I.G. BioVentures. Previous backers Morgenthaler Ventures, Versant Ventures, Technology Partners and Delphi Ventures also participated in the round, which will help the company complete the Phase 2 clinical study for its lead product, the Helios ocular insert. The insert are designed to let glaucoma and ocular hypertensive patients continually receive medication in a non-invasive fashion. Founded in 2011, ForSight Vision5 was the fifth company to emerge from the ophthalmic incubator ForSight Labs.

San Carlos, Calif. -- ReadyPulse, the San Carlos-based developer of a permission-based social content commerce platform, said it has raised $2 million in its first round of funding. Participants included Divergent Ventures, Harmony Capital, Moxie Software and angel investors from Seattle and Silicon Valley. Todd Warren of Divergent Ventures and Tom Kelly, the former CEO of Moxie Software, have joined the company's board. ReadyPulse's platform is designed to uncover a brand's best and most relevant social content -- like photos, videos and reviews -- from their most popular sources and brand ambassadors, while adding in the filters of permission and compliance. The software focuses not only on displaying the content already available about a brand, but also managing people who have the potential to create that content. The company works with more than 60 brands, including GoPro, Reebok, O'Neill, Smith Optics and Red Wing Shoes.

Santa Rosa, Calif. -- AdverseEvents, a Santa Rosa-based healthcare informatics company focused on drug safety and side effects, said on Wednesday it has raised $2 million in its first round of funding, led by Evaluate. Other significant investors included Trevor Fenwick, the founder and executive chairman of Euromonitor International; and Michael Tansey, the former president and CEO of Jobson and CEO of the Scientific and Healthcare group at Thomson Reuters. Tansey and Jonathan de Pass, the founder and CEO of Evaluate, will join the company's board. AdverseEvents said it will use the proceeds to expand its sales force and analyst teams, as well as to continue building its marketing presence among health insurers, health systems and hospitals.
