The company now has raised $50.5 million from an array of media companies, including Advance Digital, A. H. Belo, Community Newspaper Holdings, Cox Media Group, E.W. Scripps, Gannett, GateHouse Media, Graham Holdings, Hearst, Lee Enterprises, MediaNews Group and McClatchy. Wanderful Media owns and operates Find&Save, information about local brick-and-mortar sales available on FindnSave.com and on newspaper sites in each of the top 50 U.S. markets. New investors Orbimed and Novo A/S participated, along with previous backers Skyline Ventures and Montreux Equity Partners. The company will use the proceeds to expand its U.S. sales organization and add additional resources in R&D, medical affairs, regulatory, compliance and reimbursement. SI also plans to bolster its operations outside the U.S. by pursuing regulatory approvals in more than a dozen countries in Asia, the Middle East and South America, as well as initiating commercialization efforts in Australia, New Zealand and Hong Kong. The move came more than a week after Chahal pled guilty to two misdemeanor battery charges stemming from an August 2013 fight with his ex-girlfriend, according to Fortune. The company has named COO Bill Lonergan as its new CEO. Lonergan is the former CFO of Tapjoy and BlueLithium.
