o Palo Alto-Based Vaurum Lands $4 Million in Seed Funding

Palo Alto, Calif. -- Vaurum, a Palo Alto-based developer of Bitcoin exchange software for financial institutions, said on Wednesday it has landed $4 million in seed funding from Battery Ventures and angel investors. Individuals in the round included Tim Draper, a managing director and co-founder of investment firm Draper Fisher Jurvetson, and Steve Case, the former chairman and CEO of AOL. The company will use the proceeds to expand its engineering team and further build out its white-label platform for financial institutions. Vaurum said its focus is on building a commercial infrastructure for Bitcoin to better integrate cryptocurrencies into the traditional financial system.
