o IT and Engineering Employment Show Steady Growth in April

Alexandria, Va. -- Information technology employment in the U.S. continued to show steady growth in April, according to new figures from the TechServe Alliance, a national trade association for the IT and engineering staffing industry. The number of IT jobs increased 0.28% from the prior month to just over 4.6 million, with the U.S. economy adding 117,900 IT workers over the past year. Engineering jobs ticked up in April, growing by 0.18% sequentially to just under 2.5 million. "Given we were able to add IT and engineering jobs in Q1 with GDP essentially flat, I am optimistic we will continue to see increasing IT and engineering job growth as the economy picks up steam in Q2 and Q3," said Mark Roberts, CEO of the TechServe Alliance.
