Priceline will pay $103 a share under the deal, which is expected to close after mid-year. OpenTable will continue to be headquartered in San Francisco, operating as an independent unit of Priceline led by its current management team. "OpenTable is a great match for The Priceline Group," said Darren Huston, the president and CEO of Priceline. "They provide us with a natural extension into restaurant marketing services." OpenTable's service currently accepts reservations for 15 million diners a month across more than 31,000 restaurants. The company said the acquisition will afford it growth opportunities, particularly in foreign markets. Fountain Healthcare Partners, Mayo Clinic and GE Ventures also took part in the round, which the company will use to complete product development and clinical studies. Chrono's core product, the SmartStop system, a Bluetooth device that offers programmable, transdermal nicotine replacement therapy in combination with real-time behavioral support. Eric Wiesen, a general partner at RRE Ventures, will join the company's board of directors. The company plans to use the additional funding to fuel international expansion and better address the needs of advertisers. The finalists will pitch their startup ideas at the Technovation World Pitch event on June 18 at Intel headquarters in Santa Clara. The teams, comprised of students at the middle school, high school and university levels, will compete for a share of $20,000 in seed funding. Technovation is an intensive three-month curriculum that teaches female students computer science and leadership skills as they develop mobile app startups to address problems in their communities. This year, more than 3,500 young women from 45 countries enrolled.
