A newly launched in-hour government startup, Washington, DC-based 18F, is aiming to lure civic-minded coders and engineers with the promise of large-scale projects that potentially could reach millions of Americans. "This is the place to get big things done," co-founder Hillary Hartley told the publication. "If you build something [in government] and it's successful, it is going to touch an enormous amount of people. And that's intoxicating." Despite a lack of company perks and stock options, federal organizations are increasingly attempting to build startup tech culture in DC, where outdated methods and internal politics often cripple technology projects. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/06/11/washington-tech_n_5475316.html _____________________________________________ o San Francisco-Based Voxer Promotes Irv Remedios to President San Francisco -- Voxer, a San Francisco-based developer of push-to-talk and multimedia messaging technology, said on Thursday it has promoted Irv Remedios to the role of president.
