o San Mateo-Based GoPro Prices $427.2 Million IPO, Shares Rise 31%

San Mateo, Calif. -- Shares of San Mateo-based GoPro rose 31% on Thursday, hours after the maker of wearable and gear-mountable cameras priced its $427.2 million initial public offering (IPO). The offering includes 17.8 million shares -- divided equally between the company and selling shareholders -- at $24 each, the top end of its expected range. The IPO price valued at the company at just shy of $3 billion. GoPro in February revealed that it had confidentially filed for an IPO. All of the company's previous backers, including Adams Street Partners, Ignition Partners, Mayfield Fund and North Bridge Venture Partners, also took part in the round, which raised the company's total funding to $115 million. o Citrix CEO to Remain; Won't Step Down as Originally Planned

Santa Clara, Calif. -- Citrix Systems won't need to find a new CEO, after all. The Santa Clara-based developer of mobile workspaces said on Thursday that Mark Templeton will remain its president and CEO, instead of retiring next year as he announced over the winter. He has signed a multi-year extension to remain in his current roles. "While I had planned to retire within the year following my leave of absence, my personal circumstances have changed, and I am more determined than ever to lead Citrix through its next wave of transformation," said Templeton. Citrix also announced the addition of Bob Calderoni, the former president and CEO of Ariba, to its board of directors.

o San Francisco-Based Optimizely Acquires Synference

San Francisco -- Optimizely, the San Francisco-based developer of an optimization platform designed to help users conceive of and run experiments that help them make data-driven decisions, said on Thursday it has acquired Synference, an Ireland-based startup that combines optimization and machine learning to automate the discovery of patterns and insights. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. The news comes seven weeks after Optimizely raised $57 million in its second round of funding, led by Andreessen Horowitz. The company said the acquisition will allow it to expand its optimization platform by using machine learning. "Machine learning can shorten feedback loops and inform a more effective optimization strategy," said Pete Koomen, the co-founder and president of Optimizely. Synference's team will join Optimizely full-time as members of the company's product and development groups.

o U.S. IPO Market Posts Strongest Quarter in a Decade

New York -- The second quarter was the strongest in the past decade for initial public offerings (IPOs) in the U.S., according to a new report from Ernst & Young. All told, there were 91 IPOs during the period, raising approximately $23.1 billion in proceeds, up from 62 IPOs in the same quarter in 2013 and more than 20 above the first quarter total. It marked the third straight quarter where at least 70 IPOs went effective. "New IPOs continue to fuel a strong pipeline this quarter as capital is readily available," said Jackie Kelley, EY's global IPO leader. "With M&A hot again, companies have more options to exit. Dual tracking has become popular again."
