Other participants in the funding round included Qualcomm Ventures and previous backers Lightspeed Venture Partners, Mayfield Fund, NEA and Redpoint Ventures. Gene Frantz, general partner at Google Capital, has joined the company's board of directors. MapR said it will use the proceeds to expand its go-to-market programs, as well as bolster its engineering resources. Hawkins most recently served as the CFO and executive vice president of Autodesk, where he oversaw more than 50 acquisitions and played a key role in the company's shift to cloud, mobile and subscription services. He will succeed Graham Smith, who announced his plans for retirement earlier this year. Smith, who has been CFO since 2008, will remain with the company as a full-time advisor through next March.
