Eventjoy's platform is designed to help organizers self-manage their events. Besides ticketing, the technology also includes social marketing, analytics and customer engagement tools, all delivered through a mobile app. "The DIY space is one where we think Eventjoy's [technology]… can be combined with the scale of our platform and distribution capabilities." Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. The New York Times reported that this is primarily a talent acquisition, centered around Polar founder Luke Wroblewski and his team of engineers and designers. In 2007, the federal government amended a law to demand user information from online services. Yahoo said it refused to comply, calling the measure "unconstitutional" and "overbroad surveillance," but eventually lost its challenge. Now, however, the U.S. Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court of Review (FISC-R) has agreed to unseal the proceedings at the company's request. Yahoo said it eventually plans to make all 1,500 pages available to the public. Several high-profile companies, including Twitter, Netflix and Tumblr, took part in the effort, adding a spinning icon to their websites, representing a slow-loading Internet. The icon linked to a series of actions to members of Congress, the White House and the FCC. Organizers also said that people shared the spinning icon on Facebook more than 1.1 million times, with nearly 2.2 million emails sent to Congress.
