New investor Samsung Venture Investment Corp. (SVIC) joined previous backers Sigma Partners, Spark Capital, Madrone Capital Partners, DBL Investors, New Science Ventures and VEECO Instruments in the round, which increased the company's total funding to more than $110 million since its founding in 2008. Kateeva said it will use the latest proceeds to support its manufacturing strategy and expand its global sales and support infrastructure. The San Francisco-based Govtech Fund will invest in companies developing hardware and software that government departments will use for daily internal operations, as well as to deliver services to citizens. The fund already has made investments in SmartProcure, MindMixer, SeamlessDocs and AmigoCloud. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Front Porch's tools are used to manage content such as HD films and TV shows, medical images and records and real-time security monitoring feeds. Clients include A&E Television, BBC, Discovery Communications, the Library of Congress and NASCAR. The deal is expected to close late this year. Mojang's team will join Microsoft Studios, which includes the studios behind franchises such as "Halo," "Forza," and "Fable." "Minecraft" has been downloaded more than 100 million times, on PC alone, since its launch in 2009.
