o Palo Alto-Based Eversight Raises $9.7 Million in First Round
Palo Alto, Calif. -- Eversight, a Palo Alto-based developer of cloud-based software designed to improve the effectiveness of promotions and make better use of trade promotion dollars, said on Tuesday it has raised $9.7 million in its first round of funding from Emergence Capital Partners. The company, which operated for 18 months in stealth mode under the name Promolytics before releasing its software in January, said it will use the proceeds to expand its engineering, sales and marketing, and service and support teams. Eversight's product, called Eversight Cloud, presents digital offers to consumers, which can be redeemed in-store as part of their normal shopping routines. The idea is to micro-test thousands of unique offers with real shoppers to find the best performing ones.

o San Francisco-Based Docker Acquires Koality
San Francisco -- Less than a month after raising $40 million in its third round of funding, San Francisco-based Docker, the company behind the Docker open source platform for building and running distributed applications, said on Tuesday it has acquired Koality, developer of a continuous integration tool. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Koality's employees and technology will be integrated into the development efforts of Docker Hub Enterprise, the company's product initiative designed to let enterprise IT teams working on distributed applications collaborate on their modular components, while maintaining them in a private software repository behind their firewall. Koality's software already has been used extensively within the Docker community to significantly shrink continuous integration cycles. Launched in early 2013, Docker is an open platform that enables any application to be created and run as a collection of containers that work across virtually any infrastructure. The platform has been downloaded more than 21 million times, and is used by companies such as eBay, Baidu, Yelp, Spotify, Yandex and Cambridge HealthCare. The company announced its funding round, led by Sequoia, in mid-September.

San Jose, Calif. -- 8x8, a San Jose-based developer of cloud-based unified communications, contact center and collaboration tools, on Tuesday named Mary Ellen Genovese as its new CFO. She replaces Dan Weirich, who is stepping down after 10 years to accept a position at Treasure Data. Weirich will remain in his role through Oct. 31, then remain in an advisory role through the end of the year. Genovese most recently served as 8x8's senior vice president of human resources, and previously was the CFO of Trimble Navigation.

Mountain View, Calif. -- Treasure Data, the Mountain View-based provider of a managed cloud service for big data, on Tuesday named Dan Weirich as its CFO. Weirich most recently served as the CFO at 8x8, where he worked for more than a decade, and previously was the vice president of business development at iAsiaWorks. Founded in 2011, Treasure Data offers a managed cloud service for companies to collect, store and analyze massive volumes of data. The company officially launched operations in late 2012, and now counts more than 100 customers on premium service tiers.
