Fremont, Calif. -- Koch Industries, a Kansas-based conglomerate, said it will pay approximately $445 million in cash to acquire Fremont-based Oplink Communications, a maker of optical communication components, modules and subsystems. Under the deal, Koch plans to launch a tender off for shares of Oplink at $24.25 each. Oplink will be managed by Molex, an electronics components unit of Koch. "Oplink will significantly expand Molex's fiber optic capabilities for technology development and new product innovation," said Tim Ruff, Molex's senior vice president of business development and corporate strategy. Oplink supplies components to telecom, data communications and cable TV equipment makers.

o MegaChips Completes $200 Million Deal for Sunnyvale-Based SiTime

Sunnyvale, Calif. -- Japan's MegaChips said it has completed its $200 million acquisition of SiTime, a Sunnyvale-based developer of MEMS and analog semiconductors. The deal was first announced last month. SiTime will retain its name and operate as a unit of MegaChips. The acquisition combines two companies providing semiconductor products for the fast-growing wearables, mobile and Internet of Things markets. "Through the acquisition of SiTime, MegaChips becomes a leader in MEMS," said CEO Akira Takata last month. "SiTime will help us expand our portfolio and diversify our customer base."

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Love With Food said the acquisition will help it cater specifically to a growing community of gluten-free and gluten intolerant consumers. KC Pomering, the founder of G-Free Foodie, will curate a monthly box offered through Love With Food starting in December, with prices starting at $24.50 a month. Pomering also will provide cooking lessons and tips on Love With Food's YouTube channel and host Twitter parties to answer questions.
