o San Francisco-Based Move Loot Raises $9 Million in First Round

San Francisco -- Move Loot, the San Francisco-based developer of an online marketplace for pre-owned furniture, said on Tuesday it has raised $9 million in its first round of funding, led by Metamorphic Ventures. First Round Capital, Index Ventures, Great Oaks, IDG and Sherpa Ventures also participated in the round. The company, which earlier had raised seed funding from Y Combinator and Google Ventures, said it will use the latest proceeds to expand beyond its three initial markets -- San Francisco Bay Area, Raleigh-Durham, N.C. and Charlotte, N.C. -- into several more U.S. cities. Since its founding in 2013, Move Loot has evolved from a single San Francisco-based storage facility with six employees to a 60-person company stocked with three warehouses.

o San Francisco-Based Yelp Acquires San Bruno-Based Eat24

San Francisco -- Yelp, the San Francisco-based operator of a local business reviews site, said on Tuesday it has acquired San Bruno-based Eat24.com, developer of an online and mobile food ordering service, in a deal valued at $134 million. The purchase price includes $75 million in stock and 1.4 million shares of Yelp stock. Yelp said the acquisition will expand its business in the key restaurant vertical. The company said it plans to expand Eat24's offering to the 1 million U.S. restaurants listed on its platform. "As more food ordering transactions move online, further integrating Eat24 will enhance our user experience," said Jeremy Stoppelman, Yelp's co-founder and CEO. "With this acquisition, we gain more tools and expertise to help engage our users from discovery through transaction in a key vertical."

San Francisco -- The confidence of Bay Area venture capitalists rose slightly during the fourth quarter, according to the newly released Silicon Valley Venture Capitalist Confidence Index. The index, produced by University of San Francisco professor Mark Cannice and based on a survey of 28 Bay Area venture capitalists, registered a 3.93 out of 5, up from 3.89 the previous quarter. "Silicon Valley venture capitalists' confidence moved slightly higher as a continuing strong exit, investment and fundraising environment tempered concerns over inflated valuations in some venture sectors," wrote Cannice.
