o Fremont-Based NEXTracker Raises $25 Million in Second Round

Fremont, Calif. -- NEXTracker, the Fremont-based developer of PV trackers designed to maximize the energy output of solar energy systems, said on Monday it has raised $25 million in its second round of funding, led by SJF Ventures. Tennenbaum Capital Partners and previous backers Sigma Partners and DBL Investors also participated. Dave Kirkpatrick, the managing director and co-founder of SJF, has joined the company's board of directors. The funding follows a year of substantial growth for NEXTracker, which saw a sharp increase in customer shipments in 2014. The company, which now delivers more than 200 MW a month, said it will use the proceeds to further scale production.

o San Francisco-Based Sight Machine Lands $5 Million in New Funding

San Francisco -- Sight Machine, the San Francisco-based developer of a manufacturing analytics platform, said on Monday it has raised $5 million in a new round of funding from a group of investors led by Mercury Fund. The round included previous backers Michigan eLab, Huron River Ventures, Orfin Ventures and Funders Club, as well as previous backers IA Ventures and O'Reilly AlphaTech Ventures also re-invested in the round. Sight Machine will use the proceeds to fund ongoing technical and market development efforts. The company, founded in 2011, also plans to increase hiring at all three of its offices.

Mountain View, Calif. -- Google has acquired San Jose-based Odysee, developer of a photo and video sharing app, the company revealed on its website. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. "We are excited to share that the Odysee Platform Team will be joining the Google+ Team," Odysee wrote. "Odysee's vision was to be the easiest way for everyone to capture unlimited memories and access them everywhere. We are very excited to join Google where we'll continue to focus on building amazing products that people love." Odysee said it will continue to operate its service until Feb. 23, when all photos and videos will be available to users as a downloadable archive.

o San Jose-Based Fetch Robotics Raises $3 Million in First Round

San Jose, Calif. -- Fetch Robotics, a San Jose-based developer of robots for the logistics industry, said on Monday it has raised $3 million in its first round of funding, and named Melonee Wise as its CEO. Participants in the round included O'Reilly AlphaTech Ventures and Shasta Ventures. The company said it will use the proceeds to bring its inaugural robots to market during the second quarter. The robots will be aimed at the logistics and light industrial markets, as well as for other human-robot collaboration opportunities. Wise previously was the co-founder and CEO of Unbounded Robotics, and earlier spent six years with personal robotics company Willow Garage.

Founded in 1999 in Carlsbad, Calif., Enviance offers an online platform for measuring and managing EHS data. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Battery said it hopes to complement Enviance's existing technology through future acquisitions.

o Walnut Creek-Based InVision Communications Acquires PSC

Walnut Creek, Calif. -- InVision Communications (IVC), a Walnut Creek-based communications firm, said on Monday it has acquired smaller Burlingame-based rival PS Communications (PSC). Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. PSC will operate as a branch of InVision, retaining its current offices. Formed in 1992, PSC has developed communications programs for companies such as Clorox, Brocade, Treasury Wines and Rohde and Schwartz. Projects typically include staging, video and digital media. Rod Mickels, the co-founder and CEO of InVision, said the acquisition will allow his company to "pursue larger scale projects, and refer smaller ones to PSC."
