San Mateo, Calif. -- Apttus, a San Mateo-based developer of cloud software that drives the business process between a buyer's interest in a purchase and the realization of revenue, said on Monday it has raised $41 million in its second round of funding, led by Salesforce Ventures. K1 Capital and Iconiq also participated. The company, which also raised $37 million in late 2013, said it will use the latest proceeds for continued growth. Launched in 2006, Apttus focuses on an area known as quote-to-cash automation, including configure price quote, contract management, renewals management and revenue management. The company is a long-standing partner of salesforce.com, with applications built natively on the Salesforce platform.

o Santa Clara-Based Intel to Acquire Germany's Lantiq

Santa Clara, Calif. -- Intel, the Santa Clara-based chipmaker, said on Monday it will acquire Germany's Lantiq, a supplier of broadband access and home networking technologies. Financial terms of the deal, expected to close in approximately 90 days, were not disclosed. Intel said the acquisition will expand its success in the cable residential gateway market and broaden its offering to other gateway markets, including DSL, Fiber, LTE, retail and IoT smart routers. "The combination of our cable gateway business with Lantiq's technology and talent can allow global service providers to introduce new home computing experiences and enable consumers to take advantage of a more smart and connected home," said Kirk Skaugen, the senior vice president and general manager of Intel's Client Computing Group. More than 100 global operators have deployed Lantiq's DSL products.

San Carlos, Calif. -- CampusQuad, the San Carlos-based developer of a platform designed to connect college students to events, resources, clubs and organizations, said on Monday it has raised $5 million in its first round of funding, led by ICG Ventures. The company said it will use the proceeds to invest in product development, scale business operations and continue to drive adoption across North American campuses. CampusQuad's platform provides real-time access to everything happening on campus, from events and club activities to university services.

o Global Semiconductor Industry Posts Record Sales in 2014

Washington, DC -- Following the strongest December on record, global semiconductor sales reached a record $335.8 billion in 2014, an increase of 9.9% from the prior year, according to new figures from the Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA). The figure eclipsed industry projections from the World Semiconductor Trade Statistics (WSTS) organization. John Neuffer, the newly installed president and CEO of the SIA, credited "broad and sustained growth across nearly all regions and product categories." "The industry now has achieved record sales in two consecutive years and is well-positioned for continued growth in 2015 and beyond," said Neuffer.

McLean, Va. -- For the second straight year, Budweiser's puppy was top dog among super bowl ads. According to USA Today's Ad Meter consumer panel, the beer company's "Lost Dog" ad, in which a lost puppy gets rescued and returned home by a team of Clydesdales, was the highest-rated ad among the 61 that aired during Sunday's Super Bowl. It marked the second straight year Budweiser claimed the top spot with a puppy ad, All told, Anheuser-Busch now has won first place in three straight Ad Meters and 13 times in the past 15 years. Feminine products company Always took an unlikely second place with its "Like a Girl" spot and Fiat third with its "Blue Pill" ad. San Jose-based NanoTech Entertainment, a technology company focused on the entertainment industry, said on Monday it has acquired a controlling interest in High Velocity Enterprises as part of an overall corporate reorganization. As part of the deal, NanoTech's Gaming Labs division is now part of High Velocity. Financial terms were not disclosed. As part of the reorganization, Peter Riordan, previously NanoTech's vice president of strategic planning, has taken over as the company's CEO. Former CEO Jeff Foley remains on the company's board.

(Los Gatos, Calif.) Los Gatos-based Netflix said on Monday it plans to raise $1 billion through an offering of senior notes. The interest rate, redemption provisions, maturity date and other terms of the notes will be determined by negotiations between the company and the initial purchasers. Netflix said it will use the proceeds for general corporate purposes, which may include content acquisitions, capital expenditures, investments, working capital and potential acquisitions and strategic transactions.

(Palo Alto, Calif.) Palo Alto-based Sysorex, a developer of big data analytics and location-based mobile tools, said Will Frederick has resigned as its CFO to pursue other interests. The company has named Wendy Loundermon as its interim CFO, while it searches for a permanent replacement. Loundermon joined the company in 2002 and had been its CFO until last October.
