o Report: HP in Talks to Acquire Sunnyvale-Based Aruba Networks

Palo Alto, Calif. -- Shares of Sunnyvale-based Aruba Networks, a developer of wireless network infrastructure, soared 21% Wednesday following a report that Palo Alto-based HP is in talks to buy the company. Citing people with knowledge of the matter, Bloomberg reported that the deal could be announced as soon as next week. HP has been in cost-cutting mode in recent years, and plans to split into two independent companies later this year. "[We are] now in a position where we can actually make acquisitions, which we couldn't when we started," CEO Meg Whitman said in an interview on Tuesday. Aruba's annual revenue is expected to surpass $1 billion by fiscal 2017.
