o Report: HP in Talks to Acquire Sunnyvale-Based Aruba Networks

Palo Alto, Calif. -- Shares of Sunnyvale-based Aruba Networks, a developer of wireless network infrastructure, soared 21% Wednesday following a report that Palo Alto-based HP is in talks to buy the company. Citing people with knowledge of the matter, Bloomberg reported that the deal could be announced as soon as next week. HP has been in cost-cutting mode in recent years, and plans to split into two independent companies later this year. "[We are] now in a position where we can actually make acquisitions, which we couldn't when we started," CEO Meg Whitman said in an interview on Tuesday. Aruba's annual revenue is expected to surpass $1 billion by fiscal 2017. 

o Campaign Monitor Opens North American HQ in San Francisco

San Francisco -- Campaign Monitor, an Australia-based developer of email marketing software for businesses, said on Wednesday it has opened its North American headquarters in San Francisco's SOMA district. The new office, located at Howard St. and Second St., is part of a larger plan for the company to add 100 employees over the next year. The North American expansion follows a $250 million investment from Insight Venture Partners last April and the acquisition of online survey software company GetFeedback in November. Campaign Monitor's clients include BuzzFeed, Coca-Cola, Disney, Fitbit, Rip Curl and the San Diego Chargers. 

o Mountain View-Based Health Level Names Ray Scott as Chairman

Mountain View, Calif. -- Health Level, the Mountain View-based developer of a health analytics platform, on Wednesday named Ray Scott as its chairman. Scott previously co-founded Axolotl, which was acquired by Optum, and has worked closely with standards bodies and public and private collaboratives to establish a framework for secure patient information exchanges. He has served as an advisor to Health Level over the past few years. "He will play a pivotal role in the company strategy and execution," said founder and CEO Parag Paranjpe. Scott currently serves on the boards of Health Fidelity and iRhythm Technologies, and is the chairman of eHealth Technologies. 

o NaviSite Opens New Data Center in Santa Clara

Santa Clara, Calif. -- NaviSite, a Massachusetts-based provider of cloud hosting, managed applications and services, said on Wednesday it has opened a new data center in Santa Clara. The 3.6MW facility, owned by San Francisco-based Digital Realty Trust, will join the company's network of nine other data centers across the U.S. and U.K. "NaviSite has maintained a strong presence on the West Coast for more than a decade with our San Jose data center," said Sumeet Sabharwal, the general manager of NaviSite. "The Silicon Valley area is a hot-bed for innovation and the development of the new Santa Clara facility is aimed at enabling the growing demand for our portfolio of cloud-enabled enterprise hosting solutions." 

o Facebook Again Tops List of Highest-Rated Internships

Menlo Park, Calif. -- For the second straight year, Menlo Park-based Facebook tops Glassdoor's newly released list of the 25 Highest-Rated Companies for Internships. The social media giant topped Chevron, Google, Quicken Loans and eBay on the list, which is based on feedback provided by interns. "[Facebook's] interns report a great company culture that embraces inclusiveness and creativity, feeling like part of the team, working with smart engineers and colleagues on projects that actually get built and impact billions of people," wrote Glassdoor. (San Francisco) San Francisco-based Krux, a developer of cloud-based data management tools, on Wednesday named Chris O'Hara as its vice president of strategic accounts and Joydip Das as its vice president of products. O'Hara previously co-founded and served as the chief revenue officer at Bionic Advertising Systems, while Das was the vice president of product management, cloud technology and integration at Ariba. 

(San Francisco) San Francisco-based Sitecore, a developer of customer experience management software, on Wednesday named Bob Calderoni to its board of directors. Calderoni previously served as the chairman and CEO of Ariba for 13 years, and earlier held senior executive positions at Apple and IBM. 

(San Francisco) San Francisco-based Capsilon, a provider of cloud-based document and data management tools for mortgage lenders and investors, on Wednesday named Dave Nielsen as its senior vice president of sales. Nielsen most recently served as the vice president of sales, banking and lending solutions at CoreLogic. 

(Sunnyvale, Calif.) Sunnyvale-based Aerohive Networks, a developer of controller-less Wi-Fi and cloud-managed mobile networking tools, said on Wednesday that Dean Hickman-Smith will step down as its senior vice president of worldwide field operations to pursue other opportunities. David Flynn will lead field operations on an interim basis while the company searches for a replacement. Hickman-Smith will serve as an advisor during the transition.
