o Apple Introduces Highly Anticipated Smart Watch

San Francisco -- Apple on Monday unveiled its highly anticipated smart watch, which the company is calling the Apple Watch, during an event in San Francisco. The devices, which will start at $349 for a base model, will feature an array of sensors displaying heart rate and other fitness stats, as well as a phone and access to a variety of communications tools, including email and texting. They also will feature access to apps and music, and link up to a companion iPhone app. Users can swipe up from the bottom of the watch face to access a variety of features in a new function the company is calling "Glances." The device, which comes in a variety of styles and materials, including 18 karat gold (which costs more than $10,000), also features a highly customizable display. It needs to be charged daily, but features a "Power Reserve Mode" designed to preserve core functionality when battery life is low. The watches will be available beginning April 24.
