o San Francisco-Based Appirio Raises $35 Million, Names CTO

San Francisco -- Appirio, a San Francisco-based provider of cloud services to businesses, said on Thursday it has raised $35 million in its fifth round of funding, led by Fidelity Management & Research. The company will use the proceeds to accelerate the global expansion of its cloud and enterprise crowdsourcing services, as well as bolster its core platform. Appirio also has named Alex Castro as its new CTO. Castro most recently served as the vice president of product for Electronic Arts' cloud-based data and analytics platform. Founded in 2006, Appirio has nearly 1,200 employees and counts Cardinal Health, Coca-Cola, eBay, Facebook, Georgia-Pacific, Home Depot, Moen and Sony Playstation among its clients.

Fremont, Calif. -- Attivo Networks, a Fremont-based developer of advanced threat detection technology for corporate and data center networks, said on Thursday it has raised $8 million in its first round of funding, led by Bain Capital Ventures. The company said it will use the proceeds to bolster its product development and support activities. "[It] will allow us to continue product development and scale our organization," said CEO Tushar Kothari. Enrique Salem, the former president and CEO of Symantec, has been named to the company's board of directors.

o San Francisco-Based Digital Realty Trust Hires CFO and COO

San Francisco -- Digital Realty Trust, a San Francisco-based owner and operator of data centers, on Thursday announced the hiring of two key executives, naming Andrew Power as CFO and Jarrett Appleby as COO. Power will succeed William Stein, the company's CEO, who also has held the title of CFO since 2004. He most recently has served as managing director of the Real Estate, Gaming & Lodging Group at Bank of America Merrill Lynch. Appleby, who moves into the newly created position of COO, previously served as the COO of CoreSite Realty and CMO of Equinix.

Foster City, Calif. -- Kapsch TrafficCom, an Austria-based developer of intelligent transportation systems, said on Thursday it has acquired a controlling stake in Foster City-based Streetline, a developer of mobile parking apps. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Streetline's Apple and Android apps provide users with real-time parking data, analytics and other transportation information. Georg Kapsch, the CEO of Kapsch TrafficCom, said his company plans to integrate the technology with its own intelligent transportation system, electronic toll collection and traffic management tools.

Arlington, Va. -- The Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) has named eight people to its 2015 class of the Consumer Electronics Hall of Fame. Inductees include: Robert Borchardt, the former president and CEO of Recoton; Tom Campbell, consumer electronics retail executive and consultant; George Feldstein, an early pioneer of the modern connected home; Vic Hayes, founding chairman of the IEEE 802.11 Working Group for Wireless LANs; Noel Lee, the founder of Monster Inc.; Bernie Mitchell, the former president of Pioneer America; Floyd Toole, a pioneering psychoacoustic engineer; and Wilfred Schwartz, founder consumer electronics retail chain the Federated Group. The new class was selected by a panel of media and industry professionals, who judged the nominations submitted online by manufacturers, retailers and industry journalists. All will be inducted into the CE Hall of Fame Nov. 9 in New York.
