San Francisco -- Metabiota, a San Francisco-based developer of risk analytics designed to help users manage and mitigate infectious diseases, said on Thursday it has raised $30 million in a new round of funding, led by RSTP. Capricorn Health & Special Opportunities (CHSO), WP Global Partners, Industry Ventures and Data Collective also took part in the round, which the company will use to further develop its epidemic risk management tools. "We are capturing unique data on infectious diseases and by partnering with top organizations … are creating financial mechanisms to facilitate the movement of critical resources within affected countries to manage the spread of disease, while minimizing the macroeconomic impact," said founder and CEO Nathan Wolfe.

o Foster City-Based All Covered Acquires America's Remote Help Desk

Foster City, Calif. -- All Covered, the Foster City-based IT services division of Konica Minolta, said on Thursday it has acquired Maryland-based America's Remote Help Desk (ARHD), a provider of outsourced help desk support and infrastructure management services. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. All Covered said the acquisition will greatly increase the scope of its help desk support services. ARHD's staff will join All Covered, adding to a workforce of more than 800 employees and bolstering the company's engineering and operations teams.

o Clarabridge Acquires San Francisco-Based Engagor

San Francisco -- Clarabridge, a Virginia-based developer of tools designed to help brands better manage the experiences of customers, said on Thursday it has acquired San Francisco-based Engagor, maker of a platform for real-time social customer service and engagement. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Engagor's platform analyzes social data and gives customer service and marketing staff the ability to interact directly with customers, helping businesses resolve complaints and process requests. Clarabridge said the acquisition broadens its customer experience management capabilities, bolstering its own platform that collects and analyzes customer feedback data from all channels. Engagor currently boasts 360 clients in the enterprise space, including Volvo, Ikea, Pepsi and Nintendo, bringing Clarabridge's base up to more than 800 clients. Clarabridge plans to sell the Engagor product on a standalone basis, as well as part of its own offering. Engagor's employees will join Clarabridge, working from offices in Belgium and San Francisco.

o Mike Rashkin Steps Down as CFO of Santa Clara-Based Marvell Technology

Santa Clara, Calif. -- Marvell Technology Group, a Santa Clara-based developer of storage, communications and consumer silicon products, said on Thursday that Mike Rashkin has stepped down as its CFO. Rashkin has been with the company for 16 years, serving as its CFO since late 2013. Sukhi Nagesh, the company's vice president of finance and investor relations, will serve as interim CFO until a permanent replacement is found. Nagesh previously served as a vice president and semiconductor research analyst at Deutsche Bank in San Francisco prior to joining Marvell in 2011.

o San Jose-Based NeoPhotonics to Raise $43.3 Million in Offering

San Jose, Calif. -- NeoPhotonics, a San Jose-based developer of photonic integrated circuits used in high-speed communications networks, said on Thursday it plans to raise $43.3 million in a follow-on public offering. The company has priced nearly 6 million shares at $7.25 each. The offering is expected to close on or Wednesday. Neophotonics raised $82.5 million in its initial public offering (IPO) in 2011.

DuPont Fabros Technology (DFT), an owner and operator of data centers, said on Thursday it has expanded its relationship with Menlo Park-based Facebook, leasing the social media giant 7.43 megawatts of available critical load and 43,000 square feet of computer room space in Ashburn, Va.. Combined with previous agreements, Facebook now operates its computer servers and other network equipment from four buildings within DFT's Ashburn campus, leading more than 43 MW of critical load.
