Mountain View, Calif. -- Wrike, the Mountain View-based developer of a web-based work management platform, said on Wednesday it has raised $15 million in its second round of funding, led by Scale Venture Partners. DCM Ventures and previous investor Bain Capital Ventures also participated in the round, which raised the company's total backing to $26 million. Rory O'Driscoll, a partner at ScaleVP, has joined the company's board of directors. Wrike plans to use the proceeds to expand the development of its platform, which now has been used by more than 1 million people, including 8,000 paying customers. The company, which has over 200 employees, also plans to hire 150 more employees in the next 12-18 months.

Mountain View, Calif. -- Zanbato, the Mountain View-based developer of a platform that facilitates private placement workflows and connectivity in private securities markets, said on Wednesday that it has raised $8 million in its second round of funding, led by Accelerate-IT Ventures. Previous backer Formation 8 and several prominent families and venture capitalists also participated, Zanbato said it will use the proceeds to further develop its data and technology practice, as well as expand its footprint in private financial markets. "Given the importance of private capital flows in today's financial landscape, it is remarkable that private placement processes remain largely untouched by technological advancement," said CEO Nico Sand. "We see a path towards remedying that."

o Sunnyvale-Based ChatWork Lands $2.5 Million Investment

Sunnyvale, Calif. -- ChatWork, the Japanese developer of a cloud communication platform with U.S. headquarters in Sunnyvale, said on Wednesday it has landed a new $2.5 million investment from GMO VenturePartners. The company will use the proceeds to bolster product development, expand its workforce and continue its growth in North America and Europe. The company also plans to work with GMO Internet Group to build brand awareness and acquire enterprise customers in Asia. ChatWork's platform, which is designed for use by non-technical business professionals, combines group or individual text, voice calls, video chats, task management and file sharing into a single service that can be used both within and between companies.

o OmniEarth Raises $5 Million in First Round, Expands to Berkeley

Berkeley, Calif. -- OmniEarth, the Arlington-based developer of a subscription geoinformatics service targeting users in the agriculture, energy, civil and military markets, said it has raised $5 million in its first round of funding and expanded to California. The company, which did not disclose the names of investors, said it will use the proceeds to support the launch of a 15-satellite constellation. The satellites will provide Earth observation data for a range of new analytics tools designed to help clients react to change in real time. OmniEarth also has opened a new office in Berkeley to better support customers in the state, particularly with regard to better managing their water resources. "Californians are not only experiencing extreme drought conditions; they are at the forefront of developing and adopting new technologies," said Lars Dyrud, the company's president and CEO. “Our California office enables us to better respond to our primary water customers and address their rapidly changing needs."

o Mountain View-Based Google Acquires Timeful

Mountain View, Calif. -- Google said it has acquired Timeful, a Mountain View-based developer of technology tools designed to help users improve their time management. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Google said it plans to integrate the technology into its own Gmail, Inbox, Calendar and Docs tools. "The Timeful team has built an impressive system that helps you organize your life by understanding your schedule, habits and needs," Google wrote in a blog post. "You can tell Timeful you want to exercise three times a week or that you need to call the bank by next Tuesday, and their system will make sure you get it done based on an understanding of both your schedule and your priorities." Timeful raised nearly $7 million in its first round of funding last July from investors such as KPCB, Khosla Ventures and Data Collective.

o San Francisco-Based App Annie Acquires Mobidia

San Francisco -- App Annie, the San Francisco-based developer of an app analytics and market data platform, said on Wednesday it has acquired Canadian mobile measurement company Mobidia. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. App Annie said the acquisition will accelerate the international expansion of its Usage Intelligence service, which offers data on the app usage of smartphone users worldwide. "Mobidia is a pioneer in the industry -- offering global mobile app usage data since 2012 -- and by joining App Annie, our clients will benefit from the most comprehensive and granular app usage dataset on the market," said CEO Bertrand Schmitt. As part of the acquisition, Mobidia's team of 30 will join App Annie. and the company's Vancouver headquarters will become App Annie's 12th global office, to be known as App Annie Canada. The news comes four months after App Annie raised $55 million in its fourth round of funding, led by Institutional Venture Partners (IVP).
