o Bay Area VC Investments Hit Highest Level in 15 Years

San Francisco -- Venture capital investments in Bay Area companies hit their highest level in 15 years during the second quarter, according to the latest MoneyTree Report from PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) and the National Venture Capital Association (NVCA). All told, investors sank $9.1 billion into the area last quarter, up 33% from the first quarter and 14% from the same period in 2014. It marked the highest amount of VC investment in Bay Area companies since the second quarter of 2000, and was part of a similar trend nationwide. All told, VC investment in U.S. companies increased 30% in terms of dollars, marking the sixth straight quarter of more than $10 billion of venture capital. o IT and Engineering Job Growth Remains Steady but Sluggish in June

Alexandria, Va. -- The number of IT and engineering jobs in the U.S. inches upwards in June, according to new figures from the TechServe Alliance, a national trade association for the IT and engineering staffing industry. IT employment rose 0.3% to finish the month at 4.94 million, and now has grown by 4.4% since June 2014. The rate of engineering job growth rose less than 0.1% to 2.52 million, growing 0.7% iun the past year. "With the IT growth rate coming within a narrow range for the last 10 months, it seems we have fallen into a pattern of modest but consistent growth," said Mark Roberts, CEO of the TechServe Alliance.. "Though demand has not abated, an inadequate supply of IT professionals in high-demand skill sets continues to be a major factor in restricting the rate of growth."
